Product Care & Aftercare

Watch repairs have been part of the service ever since Ron Finnie opened his first shop in 1957. Today, at our in-house workshop, we have four skilled goldsmiths, a watch technician and a full-time professional diamond setter, with the expertise to carry out a wide variety of repairs and adjustments to your jewellery and watches. We are always glad to offer you help and advice. Please either drop into our repair counter, call us on +44 (0)1224 636 632 or email repairs@finnies.com

Jewellery repair service

  • Annual clean and inspection

  • Laser-machine ring sizing and general repairs

  • Stone grading and replacement

  • Rhodium plating

A note about diamonds
Some poorer quality diamonds have been treated with a glass-like material to enhance their appearance. Such fillings, though difficult to detect when new, can behave unpredictably during repairs or cleaning. We do not sell treated diamonds and although all reasonable care will be taken, we cannot guarantee how such diamonds purchased elsewhere might be affected. Please note that we also do not set or re-mount individual diamonds purchased online.

Watch maintenance service

  • Battery and strap replacement

  • Water testing for brands we stock

  • Knowledge and information about our brands

  • We are happy to assist in sending your timepiece to the manufacturer for servicing and water testing if it is a brand we stock.

A note about water resistance
Due to many variables, the water resistance of watch cases is not permanent. If you use your watch in the water, the seals should be tested annually. Our watch technician can test most of the brands we stock up to 10 metres, excluding chronograph (stopwatch) models which need to be returned to their
respective manufacturer for testing and re-sealing.
